SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael J. "Mike" Steger of Milan, who
4passed away on September 16, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Steger was born in Rock Island to Valentine
6and Dorothy (Gibbons) Steger on June 13, 1954; he served in the
7U.S. Air Force; he married Patricia Beckman on March 12, 1983;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mike Steger was proud to be part of the
10Ironworkers Local 111 brotherhood; his motto was "The higher,
11the better."; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mike Steger enjoyed many adventurous and
13sometimes mischevious activities, such as drag racing,
14skydiving, and a backyard demolition derby; his hobbies
15included fighting with technology, eating sweet treats, and
16rehoming local wildlife; he and his wife raised their family
17with laughter and adventure and created a lifetime of memories
18for their children; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mike Steger was preceded in death by his wife,
20Patricia; his parents; his daughter, Angel; his brothers, Fred
21(Barb) and Rick Steger; and his sister, LaVaun (Gerry) Davis;

2    WHEREAS, Mike Steger is survived by his children, Christy
3Steger, Christopher (Hope) Steger, Heidi (Meghan) Steger, and
4Holli (Kodjovi) Ebizo; 10 grandchildren; eight
5great-grandchildren; his sister, Linda (Jim) Bussey; his
6brother, Tim (Patsy) Steger; and his sister-in-law, Liz
7Steger; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Michael J. "Mike" Steger and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Mike Steger as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
