SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Wanda Bernot of Benld, who passed away
4on April 22, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot, the daughter of Vernon and Gladys
6(Conner) Huffman, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September
77, 1946; raised in Staunton, she graduated from Staunton High
8School; she married Pete Bernot in Benld on February 20, 1965;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot dedicated her time to a career in
11public service, working for the State of Illinois, including
12for the Department of Public Aid as a caseworker and director
13at the Carlinville field office; after retirement, she also
14served as a city clerk for the City of Benld; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot was a member of the Croatian
16Fraternal Union and served on the Gillespie CUSD#7 Site
17Selection Committee for the location of a new elementary
18school; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot never shied away from helping
20people; and

1    WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot was preceded in death by her parents
2and her husband; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Wanda Bernot is survived by her son, Jeffrey A.
4Bernot; her grandchildren, Rylee (Cassidy) Bernot, Peyton
5Bernot, and Ashleigh (Daniel) Feldmann; her
6great-grandchildren, Elexia, Jace, Jax, and Emreigh; her
7sister, Rita Soens; her niece, Sherry (Mike) Warren; and her
8great-nieces, Shelby and McKenzie; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Wanda Bernot and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
12friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Wanda Bernot an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
