| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Nicole DeNeane "Niky" Wardlaw, who |
| 4 | | passed away on August 9, 2024; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Niky Wardlaw was born to William Wardlaw Sr. and |
| 6 | | Evelyn Wardlaw in Chicago on August 31, 1969; she attended |
| 7 | | Daniel Webster Elementary School in Chicago; she and her |
| 8 | | family moved to Indiana, where she attended Franklin and |
| 9 | | Bailey Middle Schools; she attended Lew Wallace High School in |
| 10 | | Indiana before she and her family relocated to Chicago, where |
| 11 | | she graduated from Austin Community Academy; she received her |
| 12 | | bachelor's degree from Robert Morris College; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Niky Wardlaw was passionate about community |
| 14 | | outreach and enjoyed being involved within the community; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Niky Wardlaw enjoyed spending time with her |
| 16 | | family and friends, playing cards, scrolling on TikTok and |
| 17 | | making TikTok videos with her grandsons, and crafting, |
| 18 | | especially decorating glassware; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Niky Wardlaw was a very loving, caring, |
| 20 | | supportive, creative, and outgoing person who was quick to |
| 21 | | help others; she was the life of any party and always brought a |
|

| 1 | | smile to everyone's face; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Niky Wardlaw was preceded in death by her father; |
| 3 | | her siblings, Sandra Jackson and Michael Adams; her niece, |
| 4 | | Delicia Wardlaw; and her nephew, Lezerick Williams; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Niky is survived by her mother; her siblings, |
| 6 | | Curtis (Lucy) Jackson, Ricardo Wardlaw, Dominic Wardlaw, |
| 7 | | William (Anita) Wardlaw Jr., Athena Wardlaw, Farrah (Roger) |
| 8 | | Williams, and Keon Wardlaw; her daughter, Ashley Howliet; her |
| 9 | | sons, Darcus Wardlaw, Zachary Howliet, and Ahmad Logan; four |
| 10 | | granddaughters; nine grandsons; two bonus grandsons; her |
| 11 | | special friends, Eric Allen, LaVita, LaShon, Cynthia Davis, |
| 12 | | Sarah, and BeeBee; her Logan, APAC, and BMU families; and many |
| 13 | | aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; |
| 14 | | therefore, be it

| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
| 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 17 | | Nicole DeNeane "Niky" Wardlaw and extend our sincere |
| 18 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
| 19 | | her; and be it further
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to the family of Niky Wardlaw as an expression of our |
| 22 | | deepest sympathy. |
