SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald R. "Don" Funk of Hudson, who
4passed away on October 22, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Funk was born in Gridley to Leo and Clara
6(Oberlander) Funk on September 5, 1941; he married Janet E.
7"Jan" Shlipf in Fairbury on April 21, 1963; he served in the
8United States Army National Guard; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Don Funk enjoyed a long career working as an
10electrician for IBEW Local #34, retiring after 43 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Don Funk was a member of Hudson United Methodist
12Church; he loved snowmobiling at his cabin in the woods and
13watching and talking football; he adored his family and
14appreciated every friend he had; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Don Funk was preceded in death by his parents;
16his stepmother, Beulah Funk; and his brother, Merle Funk; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Don Funk is survived by his wife, Jan; his sons,
18Todd (Dawn) and Tim (Kim) Funk; his grandchildren, Brittany
19(Grant) Gordon, Madison (Alex) Hudson, Nathan (Anna) Funk, and
20Hannah, Mackenzie, and Nic Funk; his great-grandchildren, Ryan

1and Isla Gordon and Matthew Hudson; his brother, Ross (Linda)
2Funk; and his sisters, Donna Cox and Roslyn Hibbs; therefore,
3be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Donald R. "Don" Funk and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Don Funk as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
