| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Thomas J. "Tom" Roger, who passed away |
| 4 | | on October 1, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Tom Roger was born to Edward and Mary (Boehle) |
| 6 | | Roger in Peoria on February 17, 1942; he attended Mid County |
| 7 | | Schools, graduating in 1960; he served in the U.S. Army from |
| 8 | | 1964 to 1966, during which he was stationed in Vietnam from |
| 9 | | 1965 to 1966; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Tom Roger worked for the Marshall County Highway |
| 11 | | Department for 42 years, retiring in 2004; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Tom Roger was a founding member of the |
| 13 | | Chillicothe Recreational Area, and he was also a member of the |
| 14 | | Peoria Barbershop Society Chorus; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Tom Roger helped start the Lacon Merchants |
| 16 | | fast-pitch softball team in the 1970s, leading the team |
| 17 | | through many names, including the Lacon Merchants, Blarney |
| 18 | | Castle, and the Lacon Bombers, before finally merging with Two |
| 19 | | Brothers Tap; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Tom Roger enjoyed snowmobiling, and he was a fan |
