SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Kiran A. Desai of Springfield, who 
4passed away on November 28, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kiran Desai was born to Amritlal Jethalal Desai 
6and Jaya Prabhudas Gandhi in Ahmedabad, India on September 27, 
71948; he married Kalpana Fozdar; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Kiran Desai served as a technical assistance team 
9manager for the Illinois State Board of Education, retiring 
10after 28 years of service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kiran Desai served as president of multiple 
12organizations, including the Springfield Chapter of the 
13American Red Cross, Gujarati Samaj of Greater Springfield, and 
14the India Association of Greater Springfield; he was also a 
15board member of the Hindu Temple of Greater Springfield; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Kiran Desai volunteered at the Illinois Innocence 
17Project, Friend-in-Deed, and the Asian American Bone Marrow 
18Foundation; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Kiran Desai enjoyed helping others, watching spy 
20movies, and playing with the latest technology; and

1    WHEREAS, Kiran Desai is survived by his wife; his sons, 
2Kaushal (Robin) Desai and Krupal Desai; his grandson, Kai 
3Desai; three brothers; three sisters; and many nieces and 
4nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7Kiran A. Desai and extend our sincere condolences to his 
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Kiran Desai as an expression of our 
12deepest sympathy.
