AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 32 

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 32 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing 
5Section 70-50 as follows:
 
6    (60 ILCS 1/70-50)
7    Sec. 70-50. Supervisor of general assistance.  
8    (a) The township supervisor shall be ex officio supervisor 
9of general assistance in the township and shall administer the 
10general assistance program in the township as provided in 
11Articles VI, XI, and XII of the Illinois Public Aid Code.
12    (b) The township board shall, on at least an annual basis, 
13designate the township trustee who has the longest term of 
14continuous service as a township trustee to, in the event of a 
15vacancy in the office of township supervisor, serve as the ex 
16officio supervisor of general assistance in the township and

1administer the general assistance program as provided in 
2Articles VI, XI, and XII of the Illinois Public Aid Code during 
3the pendency of the vacancy in the office of the township 
4supervisor. The township trustee designated under this 
5subsection shall be ex officio supervisor of general 
6assistance immediately upon the existence of a vacancy in the 
7office of township supervisor and shall exercise the powers 
8and duties of that office until the vacancy in the office of 
9township supervisor is filled in accordance with Section 60-5 
10of this Code.
