1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The College Student Immunization Act is amended
5by changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 20/3)  (from Ch. 144, par. 2603)
7    Sec. 3. Exceptions.
8    (a) The provisions of this Act shall not apply to: (1)
9persons enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution
10on or before the effective date of this Act; (2) persons
11enrolled less than half-time during a term or semester; or (3)
12persons whose instruction solely involves research, field work
13or study outside of a classroom environment.
14    (b) No proof of immunization shall be required if a
15physician licensed to practice medicine in all of its branches
16certifies that any immunization required by the Department is
17medically contraindicated.
18    (c) No proof of immunization shall be required if the
19person or his or her parent or guardian presents a signed
20statement that he or she objects to immunizations on religious
21grounds.
22    (d) The certificate of medical exemption or statement of
23religious objection required by this Section shall be

1presented to the post-secondary educational institution.
2    (e) Beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year, for a
3tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis vaccine (Tdap) requirement,
4if a student who enrolls in a post-secondary educational
5institution cannot provide the dates on which the student
6received 3 or more doses of a diphtheria, tetanus, and
7pertussis containing vaccine, then the student must provide at
8least one date on which the student received a dose of the
9vaccine not more than 10 years prior to the beginning of the
10term of current enrollment. Additional doses of either a Tdap
11vaccine or a tetanus and diphtheria vaccine shall be
12administered in accordance with the Centers for Disease
13Control and Prevention catch-up schedule, as needed, to
14complete a series of at least 3 doses, including any prior
15doses of any of the following:
16        (1) Tdap vaccine;
17        (2) tetanus and diphtheria vaccine;
18        (3) diphtheria and tetanus vaccine; and
19        (4) diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis vaccine.

21    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22becoming law.
