| 1 | | AN ACT concerning long-term care.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 2-213.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (210 ILCS 45/2-213.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 2-213.5. Automated external defibrillators. |
| 8 | | (a) The administrator of a facility shall ensure the |
| 9 | | facility has an automated external defibrillator and policies |
| 10 | | and procedures for the rendering of automated external |
| 11 | | defibrillation in the facility. |
| 12 | | (b) All persons certified to provide automated external |
| 13 | | defibrillation shall: |
| 14 | | (1) successfully complete a course in cardiopulmonary |
| 15 | | resuscitation and in the use of an automated external |
| 16 | | defibrillator that meets or exceeds the standards |
| 17 | | established by the American Heart Association or the |
| 18 | | American National Red Cross; and |
| 19 | | (2) have evidence that course completion is current |
| 20 | | and not expired. |
| 21 | | (c) The facility shall provide maintenance and oversight |
| 22 | | of the automated external defibrillator in accordance with the |
| 23 | | Automated External Defibrillator Act and develop policies and |
