1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section 
527-23.14 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/27-23.14)
7    Sec. 27-23.14. Workplace experience preparation course. A 
8school district that maintains any of grades 9 through 12 and 
9offers workplace experience courses, including 
10school-facilitated employment or internships, shall provide 
11the following to participating students: may include in its 
12high school curriculum a unit of 
13        (1) instruction on workplace preparation that covers 
14    legal protections in the workplace, including 
15    discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, 
16    sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, 
17    disability, or status as a protected veteran; and 
18        (2) instruction on legal protections protection 
19    against sexual harassment and racial and other forms of 
20    discrimination, including, but not limited to, disparities 
21    in pay, lack of institutional support or resources, and 
22    exclusion from executive or leadership positions and other 
23    protections for employees.

1    A school board may determine the minimum amount of 
2instruction time that qualifies as a unit of instruction under 
3this Section.
