SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 440/4.09 new
605 ILCS 5/9-112.7 new

    Amends the Highway Advertising Control Act of 1971 and the Illinois Highway Code. Allows the Department of Transportation to post tourist oriented directional signs at intersections in rural areas at all sections of rural non-freeways except those passing through urban areas with populations of 7,000 or more.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Highway Advertising Control Act of 1971 is
5amended by adding Section 4.09 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 440/4.09 new)
7    Sec. 4.09. Tourist oriented directional signs. The
8Department may post tourist oriented directional signs at
9intersections in rural areas at all sections of rural
10non-freeways except those passing through urban areas with
11populations of 7,000 or more.
 
12    Section 10. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by adding
13Section 9-112.7 as follows:
 
14    (605 ILCS 5/9-112.7 new)
15    Sec. 9-112.7. Tourist oriented directional signs. The
16Department may post tourist oriented directional signs at
17intersections in rural areas at all sections of rural
18non-freeways except those passing through urban areas with
19populations of 7,000 or more.
