| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 6.5 as follows:

| 6 | | (5 ILCS 490/6.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 6.5. Moorish-American Awareness Month. The month of |
| 8 | | August of each year is designated as Moorish-American |
| 9 | | Awareness Month to be observed throughout the State as a month |
| 10 | | to recognize the valuable contributions of Moorish Americans |
| 11 | | to this State and to the various aspects of American society.

| 12 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 13 | | becoming law. |
