    Amends the Unified Code of Corrections and the County Jail Act. Provides that the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board shall create a process for Department of Corrections correctional officers, retired Department of Corrections correctional officers, deputy sheriffs, county correctional officers, retired deputy sheriffs, and retired county correctional officers to be issued concealed carry licenses through the Illinois Retired Officer Concealed Carry program.

1    AN ACT concerning criminal law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by
5changing Section 3-2-14 as follows:
 
6    (730 ILCS 5/3-2-14)
7    Sec. 3-2-14. Correctional officers of the Department of
8Corrections; coverage under the federal Law Enforcement
9Officers Safety Act of 2004. Correctional officers of the
10Department of Corrections shall be deemed to be qualified law
11enforcement officers or, for retired correctional officers of
12the Department of Corrections, shall be deemed qualified
13retired or separated law enforcement officers in Illinois for
14purposes of coverage under the federal Law Enforcement
15Officers Safety Act of 2004 and shall have all rights and
16privileges granted by that Act if the correctional officer or
17retired correctional officer is otherwise compliant with the
18applicable laws of this State governing the implementation and
19administration of the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety
20Act of 2004 in the State of Illinois. The Illinois Law
21Enforcement Training Standards Board shall create a process
22for Department of Corrections correctional officers and
23retired Department of Corrections correctional officers to be

1issued concealed carry licenses through the Illinois Retired
2Officer Concealed Carry program.

4    Section 10. The County Jail Act is amended by changing
5Section 26.1 as follows:
 
6    (730 ILCS 125/26.1)
7    Sec. 26.1. Deputies and county correctional officers;
8coverage under the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act
9of 2004. Deputies and county correctional officers shall be
10deemed to be qualified law enforcement officers or, if
11retired, shall be deemed qualified retired or separated law
12enforcement officers in Illinois for purposes of coverage
13under the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004
14and shall have all rights and privileges granted by that Act if
15the deputy or county correctional officer or retired deputy or
16county correctional officer is otherwise compliant with the
17applicable laws of this State governing the implementation and
18administration of the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety
19Act of 2004 in the State of Illinois. The Illinois Law
20Enforcement Training Standards Board shall create a process
21for deputy sheriffs, county correctional officers, retired
22deputy sheriffs, and retired county correctional officers to
23be issued concealed carry licenses through the Illinois
