| 1 | | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4236

| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4236 on page 5, by |
| 3 | | replacing lines 5 through 9 with the following: |
| 4 | | "elected to, an elective public office. Notwithstanding the |
| 5 | | other provisions of this subsection (b-6), a person convicted |
| 6 | | of: (1) a felony that is a sex offense; or (2) a felony in |
| 7 | | which the victim of the offense is a peace officer, is |
| 8 | | ineligible to be nominated for, and elected to, an elective |
| 9 | | public office. |
| 10 | | As used in this subsection (b-6): |
| 11 | | "Elective public office" means an office for which a |
| 12 | | person is elected that has been created by the Constitution of |
| 13 | | this State, a law of this State, or a county or municipal |
| 14 | | ordinance or referendum. |
| 15 | | "Peace officer" has the meaning given the term in Section |
| 16 | | 2-13 of the Criminal Code of 2012. |
| 17 | | "Sex offense" has the meaning given the term in Section 2 |
| 18 | | of the Sex Offender Registration Act.". |
