SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Display of National Symbols Act. Provides that, if a unit of local government or school district receives sufficient donations of materials or funds to do so, then it shall display in its primary administrative building and in each facility used for instruction the following items: (1) the United States national motto, "In God We Trust" containing a representation of a United States Flag centered under the national motto; (2) the United States Bill of Rights; (3) the United States Constitution; and (4) the United States Declaration of Independence. Provides that the displays must: (1) use durable posters or framed copies; and (2) be located in a conspicuous, open, and public space. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5National Symbols Act.
 
6    Section 5. Display of national symbols. If a unit of local
7government or school district receives sufficient donations of
8materials or funds to do so, then it shall display in its
9primary administrative building and in each facility used for
10instruction the following items:
11        (1) the United States national motto, "In God We
12    Trust" containing a representation of a United States Flag
13    centered under the national motto;
14        (2) the United States Bill of Rights;
15        (3) the United States Constitution; and
16        (4) the United States Declaration of Independence.
 
17    Section 10. Display requirements. The displays under
18Section 5 must:

1    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2becoming law.
