| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government. |
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
| 4 | | Section 5. The Park District Code is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 2-25 as follows: |
| 6 | | (70 ILCS 1205/2-25) (from Ch. 105, par. 2-25) |
| 7 | | Sec. 2-25. Vacancies. Whenever any member of the governing |
| 8 | | board of any park district (i) dies, (ii) resigns, (iii) |
| 9 | | becomes under legal disability, (iv) ceases to be a legal |
| 10 | | voter in the district, (v) is convicted in any court located in |
| 11 | | the United States of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or |
| 12 | | other felony, (vi) refuses or neglects to take his or her oath |
| 13 | | of office, (vii) neglects to perform the duties of his or her |
| 14 | | office or attend meetings of the board for the length of time |
| 15 | | as the board fixes by ordinance, or (viii) for any other reason |
| 16 | | specified by law, that office may be declared vacant. However, |
| 17 | | the office is not vacant until the office is declared vacant at |
| 18 | | a meeting of the members of the board. Vacancies shall be |
| 19 | | filled by appointment by a majority of the remaining members |
| 20 | | of the board. Any person so appointed shall hold his or her |
| 21 | | office until the next regular election for this office, at |
| 22 | | which a member shall be elected to fill the vacancy for the |
| 23 | | unexpired term, subject to the following conditions: |
