SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 


    Appropriates the sum of $20,000,000 from the Capital Projects Fund to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for expenses associated with the restoration of the property formerly operated as the Joliet Correctional Center. Effective July 1, 2026.

1    AN ACT concerning appropriations.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The sum of $20,000,000, or so much thereof as
5may be necessary, is appropriated from the Capital Projects
6Fund to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity
7for expenses associated with the restoration of the property
8formerly operated as the Joliet Correctional Center, including
9but not limited to, site preparation, environmental
10assessments, demolition of existing structures, environmental
11remediation, site stabilization activities, site restoration
12activities, and other work directly related to the demolition
13process, as deemed necessary to support infrastructure renewal
14and development, including prior year costs.
 
15    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
162026.
