| | | Amends the Courses of Study Article of the School Code. In provisions requiring secondary schools to include training on how to properly administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation in their curriculum, provides that, beginning with the 2028-2029 school year, cardiopulmonary resuscitation training shall include a minimum of one female manikin for every 2 male manikins through the attainment of female manikins or the attainment of chest covers for existing manikins. Provides that whenever manikins are in use for practice or instruction, both male and female manikins shall be present. |

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 27-250 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/27-250) |
| 7 | | Sec. 27-250. High school CPR and AED training for pupils. |
| 8 | | All secondary schools in this State shall include training on |
| 9 | | how to properly administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and |
| 10 | | how to use an automated external defibrillator in their |
| 11 | | curriculum. This training must be in accordance with standards |
| 12 | | of the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or |
| 13 | | another nationally recognized certifying organization. |
| 14 | | No pupil is required to receive training on how to |
| 15 | | properly administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation or how to |
| 16 | | use an automated external defibrillator if his or her parent |
| 17 | | or guardian submits written objection thereto, and refusal to |
| 18 | | take or participate in the training must not be a reason for |
| 19 | | suspension or expulsion of the pupil. |
