| | | Amends the Nursing Home Care Act. Requires each facility to notify the appropriate regional office of the Department of Public Health within 24 hours, or by the end of the next business day, after each reportable incident or accident. Requires the facility to send a narrative summary of each reportable incident or accident to the Department within 5 days after the incident or accident. |

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 3-610.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (210 ILCS 45/3-610.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 3-610.5. Incident and accident reporting. |
| 8 | | (a) Each facility shall notify the Department of any |
| 9 | | incident or accident that results in significant physical harm |
| 10 | | or injury to a resident or any situation in which a resident |
| 11 | | requires immediate medical attention, including admission to a |
| 12 | | hospital, as a direct result of an incident or accident. |
| 13 | | (b) Each facility shall, through the Office of Health Care |
| 14 | | Regulation LLCS Portal, notify the appropriate regional office |
| 15 | | of the Department within 24 hours or by the end of the next |
| 16 | | business day, whichever is later, after each reportable |
| 17 | | incident or accident. The facility shall send a narrative |
| 18 | | summary of each reportable incident or accident to the |
| 19 | | Department within 5 days after the incident or accident. |
