    Amends the Public Official Safety and Privacy Act. Adds law enforcement officers to the definition of "public official".

1    AN ACT concerning government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Public Official Safety and Privacy Act is
5amended by changing Section 10 as follows:
 
6    (5 ILCS 347/10)
7    Sec. 10. Definitions. As used in this Act:
8    "Constitutional officers" means the officers established
9by Section 1 of Article V of the Illinois Constitution.
10    "Governmental agency" includes all agencies, authorities,
11boards, commissions, departments, institutions, offices, and
12any other bodies politic and corporate of the State created by
13the constitution or statute, whether in the executive,
14judicial, or legislative branch; all units and corporate
15outgrowths created by executive order of the Governor or any
16constitutional officer, by the Supreme Court, or by resolution
17of the General Assembly; or agencies, authorities, boards,
18commissions, departments, institutions, offices, and any other
19bodies politic and corporate of a unit of local government, or
20school district.
21    "Home address" includes a public official's permanent
22residence and any secondary residences affirmatively
23identified by the public official, but does not include a

1public official's work address.
2    "Immediate family" includes a public official's spouse,
3child, or parent or any individual who is a blood relative of
4the public official or the public official's spouse and who
5lives in the same residence as the public official.
6    "Personal information" means a home address, home
7telephone number, mobile telephone number, pager number,
8personal email address, social security number, federal tax
9identification number, checking and savings account numbers,
10credit card numbers, marital status, and identity of children
11under the age of 18.
12    "Public official" includes:
13        (1) members or former members of the Illinois General
14    Assembly;
15        (2) constitutional officers or former constitutional
16    officers;
17        (3) elected or appointed State's Attorneys;
18        (4) appointed Public Defenders; and
19        (5) county clerks and members of a Board of Election
20    Commissioners whose responsibilities include
21    administering and overseeing elections; and
22        (6) law enforcement officers.
23    "Publicly available content" means any written, printed,
24or electronic document or record that provides information or
25that serves as a document or record that provides information
26or that serves as a document or record maintained, controlled,

1or in the possession of a governmental agency that may be
2obtained by any person or entity, from the Internet, from the
3governmental agency upon request either free of charge or for
4a fee, or in response to a request under the Freedom of
5Information Act.
6    "Publicly post" or "publicly display" means to communicate
7to another or otherwise make available to the public.
8    "Written request" means written notice signed by a public
9official or a representative of the public official's office
10or the public official's employer requesting a governmental
11agency, person, business, or association to refrain from
12posting or displaying publicly available content that includes
13the official's personal information.
