AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5494 

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5494 on page 1, by 
3replacing lines 10 through 14 with the following:
4    ""Acute Stroke-Ready Hospital" means a hospital that has 
5been designated by the Department as meeting the criteria for 
6providing emergent stroke care. Designation may be provided 
7after a hospital has been certified or through application and 
8designation as such."; and
 
9on page 12, lines 23 through 26, by replacing "Designation may 
10be approved by the Department after a hospital has been 
11certified as an Acute Stroke-Ready Hospital or through 
12application and designation by the Department." with 
13"Designation may be approved by the Department after a 
14hospital has been certified as an Acute Stroke-Ready Hospital 
15or through application and designation by the Department.";

1on page 13, by replacing lines 11 through 17 with the 
2following:
3    "(2) Hospitals may apply for, and receive, Acute 
4Stroke-Ready Hospital designation from the Department, 
5provided that the hospital attests, on a form developed by the 
6Department in consultation with the State Stroke Advisory 
7Subcommittee, that it meets, and will continue to meet, the 
8criteria for Acute Stroke-Ready Hospital designation and pays 
9an annual fee."; and 
 
10on page 30, line 17, after the period, by inserting "The 
11Department shall give due consideration to any recommendations 
12submitted by the members of the State Stroke Advisory 
13Subcommittee and shall notify the Subcommittee in writing of 
14any recommendations that are not taken. The Department shall 
15retain such notices in accordance with the Department's 
16policies.".
