| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting the Illinois General |
| 3 | | Assembly recognizes the sacrifice of U.S. Army Specialist |
| 4 | | Anthony "Tony" William Gilman and his love for his country; |
| 5 | | and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Gilman, son of Fred and Mary Gilman, was |
| 7 | | born in Jerseyville on January 22, 1976; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Gilman grew up in Calhoun County, |
| 9 | | graduating from Calhoun High School in 1994; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Gilman enjoyed hunting and fishing |
| 11 | | throughout Calhoun and Pike County; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Gilman decided to enlist in the U.S. Army |
| 13 | | in 1997, making it to the rank of specialist; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Gilman lost his life on July 4, 1999, |
| 15 | | becoming the first American casualty during the peacekeeping |
| 16 | | mission in Kosovo; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The County of Calhoun is honoring the life and |
| 18 | | sacrifice of Anthony Gilman on Memorial Day 2025; therefore, |
| 19 | | be it |
