HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Bradley 
4L. "Brad" Phegley of Shelbyville, who passed away on December 
56, 2024; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was born to Jack Adrian and D. 
7Kathryn (Alday) Phegley in Shelbyville on April 10, 1957; he 
8graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1975, and he 
9furthered his education by attaining an associate's degree in 
10criminal justice from Lake Land College; he served in the U.S. 
11Army; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley served his community as a law 
13enforcement officer in the Illinois State Police for 28 years, 
14as a deputy sheriff for Shelby County, as a chief deputy 
15coroner for eight years, and then as coroner for four years; 
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was an active member of Windsor 
18Christian Church, Altamont Masonic Lodge #533, and the 
19Shelbyville Horseshoe Club; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was an avid adventurer, outdoorsman, 
21and sports fan; he was a licensed pilot, a certified scuba

1diver, and a skilled hunter, fisherman, and camper; he had a 
2myriad of other interests, including beekeeping, pickleball, 
3and tending to his hobby farm, and he loyally supported the 
4Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Bulls, and the 
5Chicago Blackhawks; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was a beloved partner, father, 
7grandfather, uncle, and great-uncle whose adventurous spirit 
8matched his kindness and his ability to make a lasting impact 
9on his community; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley was preceded in death by his 
11parents; his brother, Jack Phegley; and his brother-in-law, 
12Mike Maretti; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Brad Phegley is survived by his son, Brent 
14Phegley; his sister, Debbie Maretti; his significant other, 
15Michelle "Shellie" Weber; his sister-in-law, Barb Phegley; his 
16grandchildren, Kaylee (Austin) Binnion and Jack Phegley; his 
17nieces and nephews, Jason (Carrie) Maretti, Krista (Ryan) 
18Hendrix, Lori Ruot, and Angela (Greg) Crowe; and his 
19great-nieces and great-nephews, Haley, Emily, Kelsey, Kyle, 
20Emma, Chase, Trey, Ryan, Kathryn, and Sophie; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
22HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we mourn the passing of Bradley L. "Brad" Phegley and extend 
2our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who 
3knew and loved him; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to the family of Brad Phegley as an expression of our 
6deepest sympathy.
