HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sergeant 
4Gerald S. "Jerry" Schneider of the Illinois Secretary of State 
5Police, who passed away on January 5, 2025; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider was a dedicated public servant who 
7served and protected his community as a sergeant for the 
8Illinois Secretary of State Police Capitol Division since 
92015; and
 
10    WHEREAS, During his tenure, Sgt. Schneider served as an 
11invaluable member of the Command Staff at the Capitol Police 
12Division and received a department unit citation and a 
13department commendation; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider previously served as an officer 
15for the Sherman Police Department from January 2008 through 
16December 2014; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider also served as an officer for the 
18Tri-City Police Department from December 1999 through January 
192008; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider was cherished by his family and

1friends for his unwavering dedication, his sense of humor, and 
2his love for his family and community alike; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider was the husband of Sally Schneider 
4for 12 years; the father of Kaylie Schneider and Beau 
5Schneider; the brother of Jessica (Cory) Formea and Dixie 
6(Jake) Hill; and the son of Gerald and Rebecca Schneider; 
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
9HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we mourn the passing of Sergeant Gerald S. "Jerry" Schneider 
11of the Illinois Secretary of State Police and extend our 
12sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew 
13and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the family of Sgt. Schneider as an expression of 
16our deepest sympathy.
