| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Fred H. |
| 4 | | Bright Jr., the former Mayor of the Village of East Alton, who |
| 5 | | passed away on February 25, 2025; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bright was born in Granite City on June 24, |
| 7 | | 1942; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he was |
| 8 | | a graduate of the FBI Academy; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bright embarked on a lengthy career in law |
| 10 | | enforcement, beginning with the Madison County Sheriff's |
| 11 | | Department at the Madison County Jail; he later joined the |
| 12 | | Alton Police Department; he then served in the role of Chief of |
| 13 | | Police for the Village of East Alton, and he proceeded to serve |
| 14 | | as a major with the Madison County Sheriff's Department; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bright served as Mayor of the Village of |
| 16 | | East Alton for five terms; while he held office, he was known |
| 17 | | for his commitment to the village and the concern he showed for |
| 18 | | his employees, always making sure they had what they needed; |
| 19 | | and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bright, in addition to his public service, |
| 21 | | was an insurance agent for State Farm since 1983, and he was |
