| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Ronald McDonald House | ||||||
| 4 | Charities on the occasion of its 50th anniversary and its | ||||||
| 5 | profound impact on Illinois; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities' programs and | ||||||
| 7 | services have addressed the essential needs of families with | ||||||
| 8 | children who are ill or injured throughout the State of | ||||||
| 9 | Illinois; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The first Ronald McDonald House opened in | ||||||
| 11 | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1974, and the second | ||||||
| 12 | Ronald McDonald House opened in Chicago in 1977; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities has since grown | ||||||
| 14 | into a global organization that is active in 62 countries and | ||||||
| 15 | regions around the world with over 1,000 programs that provide | ||||||
| 16 | millions of families with support each year; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Illinois is home to Ronald McDonald House | ||||||
| 18 | Charities of Central Illinois and Ronald McDonald House | ||||||
| 19 | Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, which operate | ||||||
| 20 | various houses, family rooms, care mobiles, and local programs | ||||||
| 21 | throughout the State, including the communities of | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Springfield, Peoria, Chicago, Hines, Oak Lawn, and Winfield; | ||||||
| 2 | and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities' programs and | ||||||
| 4 | services assist in preserving families' finances, saving a | ||||||
| 5 | total of $736 million in lodging and meal expenses in 2023 | ||||||
| 6 | alone; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities supports programs | ||||||
| 8 | that directly improve the health and well-being of children | ||||||
| 9 | and their families throughout the State of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, McDonald's and its owners, operators, and | ||||||
| 11 | customers annually raise millions through initiatives that | ||||||
| 12 | encourage donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities have | ||||||
| 14 | provided more than 39,000 overnight stays for families who | ||||||
| 15 | have children receiving medical care in Illinois; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities' Illinois-based | ||||||
| 17 | programs continue to serve children and their families each | ||||||
| 18 | year, providing support to nearly 15,400 children and families | ||||||
| 19 | in 2023 alone; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||

| 1 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 2 | we congratulate Ronald McDonald House Charities on its 50th | ||||||
| 3 | anniversary, and we commend the organization for its | ||||||
| 4 | commitment to Illinois families and children in their times of | ||||||
| 5 | need; and be it further | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That we thank Ronald McDonald House Charities, | ||||||
| 7 | its partners, its employees, and its volunteers for their | ||||||
| 8 | dedication to providing a caring and compassionate environment | ||||||
| 9 | where families can rest, find support, and heal together, and | ||||||
| 10 | we wish the organization continued success in its mission; and | ||||||
| 11 | be it further | ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to the Ronald McDonald House Charities as a symbol | ||||||
