| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Pompeyo Florez on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his 100th birthday; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez was born in Pueblo, Colorado to |
| 6 | | Tranquilino and Delphina Navarro Campos Florez on April 10, |
| 7 | | 1925; he attended Creiger and Crane High Schools in Chicago; |
| 8 | | he served in the U.S. Army as a private first class with the |
| 9 | | military police from September of 1943 to February of 1946; he |
| 10 | | married Violetta Marie Avon Castillo Florez at St. Francis |
| 11 | | Church in Chicago on July 6, 1947; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez worked as a baker with the Nabisco |
| 13 | | Company and as a bus driver for Reavis High School; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez had a great passion for his wife, |
| 15 | | Violetta; the two would dance in the evenings after dinner |
| 16 | | with the children watching, often to their favorite songs, |
| 17 | | which included "At Last" and "Misty"; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez enjoyed running, swimming, tennis, |
| 19 | | racquetball, walking, and camping with his children; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez is the father to Rory, Robin, |
