HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Lonzo Greenwood on the 
4occasion of his retirement from the East St. Louis School 
5District #189 Board of Education; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood was elected to the East St. Louis 
7School District #189 Board of Education in 1997 and has 
8continued his service through April of 2025; he served as 
9board president from November of 1997 to May 2, 2017, the 
10longest serving board president in consecutive years, and he 
11served as the board's vice president from April 30, 2019 to May 
124, 2021; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood served as the East St. Louis 
14Democratic Central Committee Chairman from 2012 to 2018; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood has also held various positions 
16in local, county, and state government; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood graduated from St. Louis 
18University Law School and is an attorney by trade; therefore, 
19be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
2we congratulate Lonzo Greenwood on his retirement from the 
3East St. Louis School District #189 Board of Education, and we 
4wish him the best in all of his future endeavours; and be it 
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Lonzo Greenwood as a symbol of our respect and 
8esteem.
