HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the graduating students 
4of the City Colleges of Chicago Student Government Association 
5(SGA) who have dedicated their time, energy, and passion to 
6advocating for their fellow students; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The City Colleges of Chicago SGA provides a forum 
8for the open exchange of views and ideas on matters of 
9importance to students, defends students' rights, advocates on 
10behalf of students, helps to formulate academic and 
11institutional policies that affect students, governs student 
12clubs and organizations, and plans and sponsors social events 
13for students throughout the academic year; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The City Colleges of Chicago SGA participants for 
15the 2024-2025 academic year who will graduate this year 
16include Student Trustee David Ramirez of the City Colleges of 
17Chicago Board of Trustees, who is also a student of Richard J. 
18Daley College and serves as chair of the Illinois Community 
19College Board Student Advisory Committee, President Laisha 
20Garcia and Secretary Zixuan "Zoe" Zhang of the Daley College 
21SGA, President Mia Meyers of the Harry S. Truman College SGA, 
22President Glory Daniels of the Malcolm X College SGA, 
23President Ameer Longe, Vice President Caitlin Espinsoa, and

1Secretary Jordyn Murry of the Olive-Harvey College SGA, and 
2Senators Jovannae Magallanes and Valerie Dutan of the Wilbur 
3Wright College SGA; and
 
4    WHEREAS, These City Colleges of Chicago SGA participants 
5have demonstrated authentic and servant leadership beyond the 
6classroom, using their voices to responsibly and 
7compassionately advocate for their fellow students; their 
8commitment, including their support for raising awareness and 
9funding for student mental health initiatives, has made a real 
10difference in the lives of their fellow students and 
11communities across Chicago; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
13HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
14we congratulate the 2024-2025 graduates of the City Colleges 
15of Chicago Student Government Association (SGA), and we thank 
16them for their commitment to serving their fellow students, 
17their colleges, and the City of Chicago; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19presented to the City Colleges of Chicago as an expression of 
20our admiration and respect.
