HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Mary Stitt on the
4occasion of her 100th birthday; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Stitt worked as an educator and a principal
6at Olive Elementary School for 25 years, and the school was
7renovated, rededicated, and renamed in her honor as Olive-Mary
8Stitt Elementary School in 1993; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mary Stitt served on the board of directors of
10the Arlington Heights Senior Center and Arlington Heights
11Senior Center, Inc. for 26 years, working diligently to
12organize senior health fairs and golf outings; she also served
13as chairperson of the Senior Citizen Commission and as a
14member on the Arlington Heights Rotary Board; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mary Stitt volunteered in polio immunization
16clinics in Nigeria, India, and Niger, and she assisted in
17providing clean water and medicine to those in need in Cuba and
18Guatemala; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Stitt is a member of First United Methodist
20Church of Arlington Heights, through which she regularly
21volunteers by visiting patients at Northwest Community

1Hospital; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Mary Stitt has previously been recognized by
3Mayor Tom Hayes of Arlington Heights and the Senior Citizen
4Commission, being awarded the 2019 Kenneth Hood Senior Service
5Award at the Arlington Heights Village Board meeting on
6September 3, 2019; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mary Stitt has contributed to many different
8organizations in the Village of Arlington Heights, and her
9more than 50 years of dedication to public service has had an
10positive impact on the community of Arlington Heights;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate Mary Stitt on celebrating her 100th birthday;
15and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Mary Stitt as an expression of our esteem and
18respect.
