| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Mary Stitt on the |
| 4 | | occasion of her 100th birthday; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Stitt worked as an educator and a principal |
| 6 | | at Olive Elementary School for 25 years, and the school was |
| 7 | | renovated, rededicated, and renamed in her honor as Olive-Mary |
| 8 | | Stitt Elementary School in 1993; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Mary Stitt served on the board of directors of |
| 10 | | the Arlington Heights Senior Center and Arlington Heights |
| 11 | | Senior Center, Inc. for 26 years, working diligently to |
| 12 | | organize senior health fairs and golf outings; she also served |
| 13 | | as chairperson of the Senior Citizen Commission and as a |
| 14 | | member on the Arlington Heights Rotary Board; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Mary Stitt volunteered in polio immunization |
| 16 | | clinics in Nigeria, India, and Niger, and she assisted in |
| 17 | | providing clean water and medicine to those in need in Cuba and |
| 18 | | Guatemala; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Mary Stitt is a member of First United Methodist |
| 20 | | Church of Arlington Heights, through which she regularly |
| 21 | | volunteers by visiting patients at Northwest Community |
