| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Marcos Gonzales on being |
| 4 | | named the 2024-25 Daily Southtown Boys Basketball Player of |
| 5 | | the Year; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Marcos Gonzales, a senior guard at Brother Rice |
| 7 | | High School in Chicago, averaged 18.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, |
| 8 | | and 3.1 assists during the 2024-25 season; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Marcos Gonzales was determined to make his mark |
| 10 | | on the Brother Rice basketball program and to take the team to |
| 11 | | new heights, which he did by helping the program win more games |
| 12 | | in his varsity career than at any other time in history and |
| 13 | | taking the Crusaders to the best season they have ever had with |
| 14 | | the program's first state trophy, a runner-up finish in Class |
| 15 | | 3A; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Marcos Gonzales has always had the ability to |
| 17 | | lead and take over a game at any moment, spurring his team to |
| 18 | | big wins; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Marcos Gonzales has proven himself as a team |
| 20 | | leader, a coach on the floor, a wonderful student, and an |
| 21 | | extraordinary person; therefore, be it
