HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Barbara Ann (Fanale) 
4Smith on the occasion of her 90th birthday on May 23, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Smith was born to Oresti and Susie (Zara) 
6Fanale in Riverton on May 23, 1935; she was the youngest of 
7four siblings; she graduated salutatorian from Riverton High 
8School in 1953; she married Walther Smith on October 7, 1961; 
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Barbara Smith worked at Riverton Community Bank 
11and then for the Illinois Secretary of State, retiring in 1999 
12after 37 years of service; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Barbara Smith enjoys completing crossword puzzles 
14and word searches, studying hummingbirds, and cooking her 
15family's famous dishes; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Barbara Smith is a lifelong member of St. James 
17Parish; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Barbara Smith is the mother of George and Patrick 
19and the grandmother of David Smith, Madeline Smith, Seth 
20Smith, and Lauren (Smith) Everson; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate Barbara Ann (Fanale) Smith on celebrating her 
490th birthday, and we wish her many more delightful years; and 
5be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Barbara Smith as an expression of our esteem and 
8respect.
