HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to thank and congratulate Henry Harms for
440 years of service to the State of Illinois, including the
5past 27 years as Fiscal Officer for the Office of the Speaker;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Henry Harms began working for the State of
8Illinois as a high school student through the Illinois
9Government Youth program in 1983; his official employment
10began when he started working for State Representative Michael
11D. Curran before transferring to work for the Speaker of the
12House; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Henry Harms then accepted a position in the House
14of Representatives copy and file room, often staying at work
15until as late as 4 a.m. on session days; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Henry Harms joined the House Fiscal Unit under
17then-Fiscal Officer Shirley McCombs in 1996 before taking over
18as House Fiscal Officer in 1998, a role he has continued to
19fulfill ever since; and
 
20    WHEREAS, For 27 years, Henry Harms' hard work, unfailing
21professionalism, and tireless attention to detail made it

1possible for generations of House staff to have received
2reliable and timely payroll and benefits; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Henry Harms has not only served with character
4and effectiveness in all these roles but has also raised a
5family while doing so; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Harms family, including Henry's wife of 39
7years, Terri, his adult children, Abby Bretz, Kaitlyn Harms,
8and Molly Harms, his son-in-law, Kyle Bretz, and his
9grandchildren, Lilly and Sam Bretz, have also played an
10important role in his success through their love and support;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Henry Harms' 40 years of service to the Illinois
13House of Representatives and the people whose voices it
14represents is an uncommon act of public service that is both
15commendable and praiseworthy and has earned him the deep and
16abiding gratitude of the body; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we thank and congratulate Henry Harms as he marks 40 years of
20service to the State of Illinois, the General Assembly
21thereof, and the people of Illinois; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That we wish Henry Harms and his family
2continued success and happiness for as long as he may decide to
3continue serving the people of Illinois and thereafter; and be
4it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to Henry Harms as an expression of our gratitude,
7esteem, and great respect.
