| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to thank and congratulate Henry Harms for |
| 4 | | 40 years of service to the State of Illinois, including the |
| 5 | | past 27 years as Fiscal Officer for the Office of the Speaker; |
| 6 | | and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Henry Harms began working for the State of |
| 8 | | Illinois as a high school student through the Illinois |
| 9 | | Government Youth program in 1983; his official employment |
| 10 | | began when he started working for State Representative Michael |
| 11 | | D. Curran before transferring to work for the Speaker of the |
| 12 | | House; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Henry Harms then accepted a position in the House |
| 14 | | of Representatives copy and file room, often staying at work |
| 15 | | until as late as 4 a.m. on session days; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Henry Harms joined the House Fiscal Unit under |
| 17 | | then-Fiscal Officer Shirley McCombs in 1996 before taking over |
| 18 | | as House Fiscal Officer in 1998, a role he has continued to |
| 19 | | fulfill ever since; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, For 27 years, Henry Harms' hard work, unfailing |
| 21 | | professionalism, and tireless attention to detail made it |

| 1 | | possible for generations of House staff to have received |
| 2 | | reliable and timely payroll and benefits; and |
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Henry Harms has not only served with character |
| 4 | | and effectiveness in all these roles but has also raised a |
| 5 | | family while doing so; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Harms family, including Henry's wife of 39 |
| 7 | | years, Terri, his adult children, Abby Bretz, Kaitlyn Harms, |
| 8 | | and Molly Harms, his son-in-law, Kyle Bretz, and his |
| 9 | | grandchildren, Lilly and Sam Bretz, have also played an |
| 10 | | important role in his success through their love and support; |
| 11 | | and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Henry Harms' 40 years of service to the Illinois |
| 13 | | House of Representatives and the people whose voices it |
| 14 | | represents is an uncommon act of public service that is both |
| 15 | | commendable and praiseworthy and has earned him the deep and |
| 16 | | abiding gratitude of the body; therefore, be it |
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 18 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 19 | | we thank and congratulate Henry Harms as he marks 40 years of |
| 20 | | service to the State of Illinois, the General Assembly |
| 21 | | thereof, and the people of Illinois; and be it further |

| 1 | | RESOLVED, That we wish Henry Harms and his family |
| 2 | | continued success and happiness for as long as he may decide to |
| 3 | | continue serving the people of Illinois and thereafter; and be |
| 4 | | it further |
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 6 | | presented to Henry Harms as an expression of our gratitude, |
| 7 | | esteem, and great respect. |
