| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate David Larson, Ed.D. on |
| 4 | | the occasion of his retirement as superintendent of Glenbard |
| 5 | | Township High School District 87; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Larson has had a 45-year career in education, |
| 7 | | including working domestically at schools in Michigan and the |
| 8 | | Palm Beach County School District in Florida and |
| 9 | | internationally at the Singapore American School; he served as |
| 10 | | superintendent of Glenbard Township High School District 87 |
| 11 | | since 2012; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Larson, as superintendent of Glenbard |
| 13 | | Township High School District 87, led the third largest high |
| 14 | | school district in Illinois, overseeing a staff of over 475 |
| 15 | | teachers responsible for educating over 7,600 students; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Larson aided in the creation of a Physics and |
| 17 | | Algebra II with Trigonometry course sequence for all students, |
| 18 | | and he also guided the school district's successful 2024 |
| 19 | | facility improvements referendum, which will allow the |
| 20 | | implementation of Glenbard's new 10-year Master Facility Plan; |
| 21 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Larson facilitated a student, staff, and |
| 2 | | community engagement process to develop the school district's |
| 3 | | Profile of a Graduate, which identifies the knowledge, skills, |
| 4 | | and experiences students need to prepare for their future in a |
| 5 | | changing world; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Larson led a multi-year, strategic work |
| 7 | | planning process for building-led targets, metrics, customized |
| 8 | | tactics, and strategies, resulting in strong teaching and |
| 9 | | learning practices that focus on student academic achievement; |
| 10 | | and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Under Dr. Larson's leadership, 62% of Glenbard |
| 12 | | High School students graduate with college credit, and |
| 13 | | participation in Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses is |
| 14 | | at twice the national and state average, with students having |
| 15 | | scored 57 points higher than the state average; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Larson secured Illinois State Board of |
| 17 | | Education (ISBE) Financial Recognition status every year he |
| 18 | | served as superintendent; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Larson fostered an environment where students |
| 20 | | can develop their character and thrive academically, teachers |
| 21 | | and staff are valued and supported, and parents and community |
| 22 | | members are appreciated and heard; therefore, be it
|

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 2 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 3 | | we congratulate David Larson, Ed.D. on his retirement as |
| 4 | | superintendent of Glenbard Township High School District 87 |
| 5 | | after 13 years of service; and be it further
|
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to Dr. Larson as a symbol of our esteem and respect. |
