| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Andrew |
| 4 | | James "Andy" Werhane of Poplar Grove, who passed away on April |
| 5 | | 26, 2025; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Andy Werhane was born to Mary and James Werhane |
| 7 | | on October 26, 1982 and raised in Lena; he graduated from |
| 8 | | Lena-Winslow High School in 2001, where he played both |
| 9 | | football and baseball; he graduated from Eastern Illinois |
| 10 | | University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a |
| 11 | | high school teaching certificate; he earned a Master of Arts |
| 12 | | in Educational Technology from Concordia University in 2016 |
| 13 | | and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Aurora |
| 14 | | University in 2023; while going through school, he also worked |
| 15 | | in his family's trucking business, Werhane Enterprises, |
| 16 | | washing and maintaining trucks; he married Sarah Werhane on |
| 17 | | November 12, 2011; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Andy Werhane was passionate about being an |
| 19 | | educator and made a lasting impact on the community of |
| 20 | | Belvidere during his time at Belvidere High School, where he |
| 21 | | taught English for nine years, and later as assistant |
| 22 | | principal of Washington Academy; he coached baseball, bowling, |
| 23 | | and golf and inspired countless students with his guidance and |

| 1 | | compassion; he was also a technology coach for nine years; and |
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Andy Werhane was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs |
| 3 | | and Bears; he enjoyed music and golf and was a lifelong seeker |
| 4 | | of knowledge; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Andy Werhane was a devoted and caring husband, |
| 6 | | father, friend, and teacher; he was known for his humility and |
| 7 | | kindness; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Andy Werhane was preceded in death by little Baby |
| 9 | | A and his nephew, Patrick Michael Heagney; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Andy Werhane is survived by his wife, Sarah; his |
| 11 | | children, Olivia Katherine Werhane and James Arthur Werhane; |
| 12 | | his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Timothy and Suzanne |
| 13 | | Heagney; his siblings, Nicholas James (Katherine) Werhane, |
| 14 | | Joseph James (Genevieve) Werhane, and Ryan James (Heidi) |
| 15 | | Werhane; his brothers-in-law, Timothy (Samantha) Heagney Jr. |
| 16 | | and Thomas Heagney; his nieces and nephews, Lillian, Ellaina, |
| 17 | | Noah, Brinley, Allie, Charlotte, and Layton Werhane; his |
| 18 | | grandparents, Fred and Betty Werhane and Ronald and Patricia |
| 19 | | Mahon; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, students, |
| 20 | | and colleagues; therefore, be it |

| 1 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 2 | | we mourn the passing of Andrew James "Andy" Werhane and extend |

| 4 | | knew and loved him; and be it further |
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
