| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Bill Riley on being |
| 4 | | inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall |
| 5 | | of Fame; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Coach Riley was born on February 7, 1962 and |
| 7 | | raised in Westchester; he graduated from Proviso West High |
| 8 | | School in 1980 and earned a degree from Northeastern Illinois |
| 9 | | University; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Coach Riley began his lifelong dedication to |
| 11 | | mentoring young people through his work as a coach and |
| 12 | | teacher; over the course of his career, he has been known as a |
| 13 | | respected leader and educator both on and off the court; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Coach Riley is known for his skill, character, |
| 15 | | and dedication to his players; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Coach Riley has served his school and community |
| 17 | | in a variety of roles and has been especially admired for his |
| 18 | | ability to connect with students and inspire excellence both |
| 19 | | athletically and academically; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Coach Riley was a part of 26 regional |
|

| 1 | | championships, nine sectional championships, five state |
| 2 | | finals, and two state championships, one in 1999 and one in |
| 3 | | 2015; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Coach Riley has received many honors during his |
| 5 | | lifetime, including coach of the year; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Coach Riley is beloved by many and known for his |
| 7 | | humility, sense of humor, and faith; he has positively |
| 8 | | impacted generations of young people and has touched many |
| 9 | | lives through his dedication to teaching, coaching, and |
| 10 | | service; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Coach Riley is the son of the late Patricia and |
| 12 | | Edmund Riley; the brother of Jerry and the late Michael; and a |
| 13 | | cherished friend, mentor, coach, and community leader to |
| 14 | | countless others; therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 16 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 17 | | we congratulate Coach Bill Riley on being inducted into the |
| 18 | | Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame; and be |
| 19 | | it further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to Coach Riley as a token of our respect and esteem. |
