HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Bill Riley on being
4inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall
5of Fame; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Coach Riley was born on February 7, 1962 and
7raised in Westchester; he graduated from Proviso West High
8School in 1980 and earned a degree from Northeastern Illinois
9University; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Coach Riley began his lifelong dedication to
11mentoring young people through his work as a coach and
12teacher; over the course of his career, he has been known as a
13respected leader and educator both on and off the court; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Coach Riley is known for his skill, character,
15and dedication to his players; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Coach Riley has served his school and community
17in a variety of roles and has been especially admired for his
18ability to connect with students and inspire excellence both
19athletically and academically; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Coach Riley was a part of 26 regional

1championships, nine sectional championships, five state
2finals, and two state championships, one in 1999 and one in
32015; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Coach Riley has received many honors during his
5lifetime, including coach of the year; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Coach Riley is beloved by many and known for his
7humility, sense of humor, and faith; he has positively
8impacted generations of young people and has touched many
9lives through his dedication to teaching, coaching, and
10service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Coach Riley is the son of the late Patricia and
12Edmund Riley; the brother of Jerry and the late Michael; and a
13cherished friend, mentor, coach, and community leader to
14countless others; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we congratulate Coach Bill Riley on being inducted into the
18Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame; and be
19it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Coach Riley as a token of our respect and esteem.
