HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas
4M. "Tom" Yucuis of East Dundee, who passed away on February 24,
52025; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis was born in Chicago to Charles P. and
7Carol J. (Sommer) Yucuis on December 6, 1955; he was raised in
8Sleepy Hollow and graduated from Dundee Community High School
9in Carpentersville in 1973; he married Jill A. Rakow on May 1,
101976; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis was a butcher and meat cutter for 50
12years; he owned and operated Butcher On The Block Meat and Deli
13in Lake in the Hills with his wife; his vision was to create a
14small family business where he could share his expertise and
15passion for great food, and over the course of his 25 years in
16business, his daughters and many grandchildren have worked at
17Butcher on the Block, sharing in his dream; he loved
18interacting with his loyal customers who supported the
19business and made it the success that it is today; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis had a passion and commitment to giving
21that knew no limits; he was a great partner to the D300 Food
22Pantry, which provides D300 children, employees, and their

1families with access to food and other resources that nurture
2a healthier, happier, and stronger community; he was in
3constant contact with the organization, offering items to
4donate or a special price he was able to get on meat from one
5of his many vendors; additionally, he facilitated the donation
6process with vendors who were looking to make a donation due to
7an excess quantity of a product, and he created a "buy one
8donate one" program for turkeys during Thanksgiving, which
9benefited multiple food pantries and fire departments that
10were helping local families; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis was a longtime faithful member of
12Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee; he was an
13avid golfer and a fan of the White Sox, Chicago Bears, and
14Chicago Blackhawks; he could easily be found frequenting East
15Dundee businesses, enjoying Wine Down Wednesdays, Thirsty
16Thursdays, or just a nice walk downtown; he loved his
17grandchildren, supporting them at their sporting events and
18through other life events; he loved to travel and spent
19vacations with his beloved wife and family; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis was preceded in death by his parents;
21his daughter, Emily; his brother, Raymond Yucuis; his sister,
22Shari Anatra; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and
23Barbara Rakow; and his brothers-in-law, Lane Rakow and Bruce
24Kling; and

1    WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis survived by his wife of 50 years,
2Jill; his daughters, Dana Yucuis, Katie (Vince) Neil, and
3Brynn (Brian) Zimmerman; his grandchildren, Preston (Jillian),
4Shea, Dominik, Kendall, Anya, Brady, Spencer, Cameron, Macy,
5and Maddox; his siblings, Lynne Kling, James (Ann), Jack
6(Jacquie), Rob (Chris) Yucuis, and Nancy (Brad) Dehmlow; his
7Rakows-in-law, Kristi (Dennis) DeSantis, Mark (Debra) Rakow,
8Lantz (Marianne) Rakow, and Susan Rakow; many nieces, nephews,
9grandnieces, and grandnephews; and countless good and faithful
10friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn the passing of Thomas M. "Tom" Yucuis of East Dundee
14and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
15all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Tom Yucuis of East Dundee as an
18expression of our deepest sympathy.
