HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Michael Rosenbaum was enrolled as a public policy
3student at the University of Chicago from 2011 to 2015,
4graduating with honors; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Rosenbaum volunteered to intern for Rep.
6Rita Mayfield during the summer of 2012 and throughout 2013,
7with the goal of crafting meaningful public policy; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Michael Rosenbaum spent endless hours meeting
9with local law enforcement and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm
10(ATF) agents, researching gun safety issues; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Michael Rosenbaum wrote two pieces of legislation
12to address local law enforcement concerns around gun safety
13and trafficking; and
 
14    WHEREAS, House Bill 4574 of the 98th General Assembly was
15filed on February 4, 2014, introducing the lost and stolen
16firearms language crafted by Michael Rosenbaum; and
 
17    WHEREAS, For the next several years, Rep. Rita Mayfield
18earnestly reintroduced the language and advocated for its
19passing; and

1    WHEREAS, On May 28, 2025, 11 years after the lost and
2stolen firearm language was first introduced, it was passed as
3part of Senate Bill 8 of the 104th General Assembly, an omnibus
4gun safety package; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Having successfully passed both the Senate and
6the House of Representatives, the lost and stolen firearm
7language will be sent to the Governor of the State of Illinois
8to be signed into law; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we commend Michael Rosenbaum on crafting sensible legislation
12and thank him for his commitment to public safety; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Michael Rosenbaum as a symbol of our respect and
16esteem.
