HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor those individuals whose
4commitment to public service has significantly benefited their
5communities and the State of Illinois; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato, who has provided more than two
7decades of exemplary service to Hanover Township and the
8residents of Bartlett, will retire on August 29, 2025; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato began serving Hanover Township
10as deputy clerk on August 28, 2003, and she was promoted to
11chief deputy clerk in 2008; she has served as director of the
12Department of Human Services since May 22, 2009; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Under Mary Jo Imperato's leadership, the
14Department of Human Services has expanded its reach and
15impact, especially in the areas of food insecurity, benefits
16access, and support for veterans; as an accredited veterans
17service officer, she has assisted many Hanover Township
18veterans and their families in successfully filing disability
19claims; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato has served with distinction as a
21member of the Illinois Township Association of General

1Assistance Caseworkers, where she has demonstrated her
2commitment to statewide collaboration and professional
3excellence; she has also held a number of leadership
4positions, serving as president from 2014 to 2022 and
5treasurer from 2022 to 2025; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato's service has extended beyond
7Hanover Township, including serving on the Regional
8Transportation Authority Citizens Advisory Council from 2015
9to 2017 and through ongoing engagement with the Streamwood
10Kiwanis Club since 2010; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato has been recognized with
12numerous accolades throughout her career, including the Heart
13of Center Award from the Community Crisis Center in 2012, the
14Service to Youth Award from the Village of Hanover Park in
152015, the Local Hero Award from Brookdale Hoffman Estates
16Senior Services in 2015, the Hanover Township Excellence in
17Service Award in 2017, and the Cook County Unsung Hero Award in
182019; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato's efforts in securing critical
20grant funding for the Hanover Township Food Pantry and her
21unwavering focus on innovation and service delivery have left
22a lasting legacy on Hanover Township and its residents; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato, a resident of Bartlett since
21987, is a dedicated wife to her husband, Carl, and a loving
3mother to her children, Alex and Johnny; her commitment to
4both family and public service stands as a shining example of
5civic duty and personal integrity; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we congratulate Mary Jo Imperato on the occasion of her
9retirement, thank her for her decades of dedicated service to
10Hanover Township and the State of Illinois, and wish her
11health, happiness, and fulfillment in all her future
12endeavors; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Mary Jo Imperato as a symbol of our esteem and
15respect.
