| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to honor those individuals whose | ||||||
| 4 | commitment to public service has significantly benefited their | ||||||
| 5 | communities and the State of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato, who has provided more than two | ||||||
| 7 | decades of exemplary service to Hanover Township and the | ||||||
| 8 | residents of Bartlett, will retire on August 29, 2025; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato began serving Hanover Township | ||||||
| 10 | as deputy clerk on August 28, 2003, and she was promoted to | ||||||
| 11 | chief deputy clerk in 2008; she has served as director of the | ||||||
| 12 | Department of Human Services since May 22, 2009; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Under Mary Jo Imperato's leadership, the | ||||||
| 14 | Department of Human Services has expanded its reach and | ||||||
| 15 | impact, especially in the areas of food insecurity, benefits | ||||||
| 16 | access, and support for veterans; as an accredited veterans | ||||||
| 17 | service officer, she has assisted many Hanover Township | ||||||
| 18 | veterans and their families in successfully filing disability | ||||||
| 19 | claims; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato has served with distinction as a | ||||||
| 21 | member of the Illinois Township Association of General | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Assistance Caseworkers, where she has demonstrated her | ||||||
| 2 | commitment to statewide collaboration and professional | ||||||
| 3 | excellence; she has also held a number of leadership | ||||||
| 4 | positions, serving as president from 2014 to 2022 and | ||||||
| 5 | treasurer from 2022 to 2025; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato's service has extended beyond | ||||||
| 7 | Hanover Township, including serving on the Regional | ||||||
| 8 | Transportation Authority Citizens Advisory Council from 2015 | ||||||
| 9 | to 2017 and through ongoing engagement with the Streamwood | ||||||
| 10 | Kiwanis Club since 2010; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato has been recognized with | ||||||
| 12 | numerous accolades throughout her career, including the Heart | ||||||
| 13 | of Center Award from the Community Crisis Center in 2012, the | ||||||
| 14 | Service to Youth Award from the Village of Hanover Park in | ||||||
| 15 | 2015, the Local Hero Award from Brookdale Hoffman Estates | ||||||
| 16 | Senior Services in 2015, the Hanover Township Excellence in | ||||||
| 17 | Service Award in 2017, and the Cook County Unsung Hero Award in | ||||||
| 18 | 2019; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato's efforts in securing critical | ||||||
| 20 | grant funding for the Hanover Township Food Pantry and her | ||||||
| 21 | unwavering focus on innovation and service delivery have left | ||||||
| 22 | a lasting legacy on Hanover Township and its residents; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Mary Jo Imperato, a resident of Bartlett since | ||||||
| 2 | 1987, is a dedicated wife to her husband, Carl, and a loving | ||||||
| 3 | mother to her children, Alex and Johnny; her commitment to | ||||||
| 4 | both family and public service stands as a shining example of | ||||||
| 5 | civic duty and personal integrity; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 7 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 8 | we congratulate Mary Jo Imperato on the occasion of her | ||||||
| 9 | retirement, thank her for her decades of dedicated service to | ||||||
| 10 | Hanover Township and the State of Illinois, and wish her | ||||||
| 11 | health, happiness, and fulfillment in all her future | ||||||
| 12 | endeavors; and be it further | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to Mary Jo Imperato as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 15 | respect. | ||||||
