HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Lincoln Elementary School 
4District (ESD) 156 in Calumet City on the occasion of its 100th 
5anniversary; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lincoln ESD 156 began as the Sobieski School, 
7which was constructed in the early 1920s to support the 
8growing population of families in the area; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lincoln ESD 156's name was later changed to 
10Lincoln Elementary School by a student committee chaired by 
11Sylvia Pierkarczyk-Mica to reflect the values of leadership, 
12integrity, and progress; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lincoln ESD 156 has evolved into a strong pillar 
14of educational excellence and community pride since officially 
15opening its doors in 1925; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lincoln ESD 156 will host a centennial 
17celebration on August 16, 2025; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
19HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
20we congratulate Lincoln Elementary School District (ESD) 156

1on achieving its 100th anniversary, and we wish Lincoln ESD 
2156 continued success in its ongoing legacy of academic 
3excellence and community service; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to the Superintendent of Lincoln ESD 156, Dr. Anita 
6Rice, as an expression of our esteem and respect.
