HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Italian American community has played a vital 
3role in shaping the cultural, social, and economic fabric of 
4the City of Rockford; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Festa Italiana, held annually in Rockford and now 
6in its 46th year, is a beloved cultural celebration that 
7honors the rich heritage, traditions, and contributions of 
8Italian Americans in the region; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Festa Italiana serves as a unifying event for the 
10Rockford community, drawing residents and visitors alike to 
11enjoy traditional Italian food, music, art, and entertainment; 
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Festa Italiana fosters cross-cultural 
14understanding and pride in heritage while supporting local 
15businesses, artisans, and performers; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Festa Italiana is organized with dedication by 
17committed volunteers and organizations, including the Greater 
18Rockford Italian American Association (GRIAA), whose efforts 
19keep traditions alive and enrich community spirit; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The proceeds from Festa Italiana are used to

1support scholarships, charitable causes, and educational 
2programs that benefit both the Italian American community and 
3the broader Rockford area; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we recognize Festa Italiana as an important cultural event in 
7the City of Rockford, and we express our gratitude to all who 
8make this festival possible each year; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That we celebrate the continued legacy of 
10Italian American heritage in Rockford, and we encourage all 
11residents to take part in the festivities, honoring the 
12traditions and values that unite the community.
