HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Helen
4Margaret (Norwood) Jackson, who passed away on July 19, 2025;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Helen Jackson was born in Peoria to William H.
7Somerville and Hattie Norwood on August 3, 1937 and raised by
8her grandmother, Savannah Norwood; she graduated from Peoria
9Manual High School in 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Helen Jackson worked as a nursing assistant
11before becoming self-employed for several decades; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Helen Jackson was a long-time member of Grace
13Baptist Church, where she served for many years on the usher
14board; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Helen Jackson was known for her incredible wit,
16sense of humor, and straight talk; she enjoyed listening to
17music, reading, attending sporting events, attending church,
18and spending time with friends and family; she loved her
19children and grandchildren and took great pride in their
20successes and accomplishments; and

1    WHEREAS, Helen Jackson was preceded in death by her
2parents and four grandchildren; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Helen Jackson is survived by her daughters,
4Clarice Graham, Cynthia Morgan, and Linda (Charles) Wilson;
5her sons, William (Tenka) Campbell, Christopher Campbell,
6Cecil (Daphine) Campbell, Jamere (Tiffany) Jackson, and Rick
7(Erin) Morgan; 18 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Helen Margaret (Norwood) Jackson and
12extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
13who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Helen Jackson as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
