HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Randall
4Lee "Randy" Cooke of Chatham, who passed away on July 29, 2025;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was born to Rodney and Carol (Smith)
7Cooke in Bloomington on April 16, 1962; he graduated from
8Glenwood High School in 1980; he married Marleen Rae Sullivan
9in Springfield on June 8, 1985; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Randy Cooke worked as an operator at the Kincaid
11Generating Station for more than 20 years, and he served as a
12volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Chatham Fire Department
13for many years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was a member and past president of
15the TRN Lake Club and a member of Elks Lodge 158; he also
16served as president of the Sangchris Waterfowlers Association,
17where his leadership brought to life the Brett Creager
18Memorial Youth Outdoor Day event; he passionately advocated
19for organizations close to his heart, including Mid-America
20Transplant and the American Lung Association; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was an avid outdoorsman who loved

1hunting, fishing, and experiencing the beauty of nature; he
2enjoyed spending time at Sangchris Lake, hunting with his
3friends and making his cherished duck blind breakfasts; his
4greatest joy was found in sharing laughter and love with his
5grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Papa"; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was a vibrant spirit known for his
7infectious humor, strong faith, quick wit, and his ability to
8make friends wherever he went; he leaves behind a legacy of
9warmth, strength, and an unshakable belief in the good in the
10world; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Randy Cooke was preceded in death by his mother;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Randy Cooke is survived by his wife of 40 years,
14Marleen; his children, Brandi (Eric) Goodin and Ryan (Abby
15Geist) Cooke; six grandchildren; his father; his sister, Kim
16(Dave) Sapetti; and numerous friends; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we mourn the passing of Randall Lee "Randy" Cooke and extend
20our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
21knew and loved him; and be it further
