HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to commend Bishop Dr. Claude Porter and 
4Lady Bishop Earnestine Porter on the occasion of their 53rd 
5year of service to Proviso Missionary Baptist Church of 
6Maywood; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Proviso Missionary Baptist Church, founded by 
8Bishop Dr. Porter, is a generous community church that was 
9established with the mission to feed the hungry, clothe the 
10naked, and minister to the poor and needy; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bishop Dr. Porter and Lady Bishop Porter are 
12longtime, highly respected, and esteemed leaders in the 
13Maywood community, having given greatly of their time and 
14formidable talents for more than five decades; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bishop Dr. Porter and Lady Bishop Porter have 
16provided comfort, support, and wise counsel to those in need 
17in their congregation, community, and beyond; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bishop Dr. Porter and Lady Bishop Porter have 
19also labored diligently at the Proviso Leyden Council for 
20Community Action (PLCCA), which they founded; and

1    WHEREAS, Bishop Dr. Porter and Lady Bishop Porter will be 
2honored by Proviso Missionary Baptist Church at its Founder's 
3Day event on September 14, 2025; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we commend Bishop Dr. Claude Porter and Lady Bishop Earnestine 
7Porter on achieving their 53rd year of dedicated and impactful 
8service to Proviso Missionary Baptist Church of Maywood; and 
9be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Bishop Dr. Porter and Lady Bishop Porter as an 
12expression of our esteem and respect.
