| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Thomas E. Ryan Jr. on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his retirement as the president and business |
| 5 | | manager of Carpenters Union Local 13; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan has been a lifelong member of his |
| 7 | | community, graduating from Our Lady of the Ridge Grade School |
| 8 | | in Chicago Ridge and Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos |
| 9 | | Hills; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan was a delegate to both the Chicago |
| 11 | | District Council and the Cook County Building Trades in 1987; |
| 12 | | and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan first became a business |
| 14 | | representative for Carpenters Union Local 13 in January 1988 |
| 15 | | and then an officer of the Local in April 1995; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan served as a delegate to the Chicago |
| 17 | | Federation of Labor, the Illinois State Federation of Labor, |
| 18 | | and the Illinois State Council of Carpenters in April 1995; |
| 19 | | and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan served as chairman of the Coalition |

| 1 | | of Unionized Public Employees for the City of Chicago, the |
| 2 | | County of Cook, the State of Illinois, and the Chicago Park |
| 3 | | District, protecting the rights of thousands of union workers |
| 4 | | from dozens of labor organizations; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan served as the financial |
| 6 | | secretary-treasurer of Carpenters Union Local 13 from 1995 to |
| 7 | | 2010; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan has served as president and business |
| 9 | | manager of Carpenters Union Local 13 since 2010; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan served as an alderperson in Hometown |
| 11 | | from 1991 to 1998; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan has been a devoted husband to his |
| 13 | | wife, Darlene, for 42 years and a loving father and |
| 14 | | grandfather to their five children and eight grandchildren; |
| 15 | | and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Ryan, in retirement, will hopefully have |
| 17 | | more time to enjoy family, friends, and fishing, particularly |
| 18 | | at Lake Kegonsa in Stoughton, Wisconsin; therefore, be it |
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
