HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eunice
4Alexander, who passed away on August 19, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander was born in Nesbit, Mississippi
6to William Sr. and Julia Miller on April 14, 1937; she married
7Odell "Sonny" Alexander in Hernando, Mississippi on September
816, 1956; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander committed to her faith at an
10early age; she was a member of New Faith M.B. Church for 63
11years, where she served as a faithful member of the Deaconess
12Board, the Voices of New Faith Choir, the Sunday school
13department, and the Repast Committee; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander was known for her cooking; she
15was a dedicated member of the Feed the Hungry Outreach
16Ministry, where she, along with others, cooked dinners in
17their homes for the ministry; as this ministry grew, they
18expanded to the kitchen of New Faith M.B. Church, where she
19continued her service in until 2020; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander was very passionate about her
21children; she was a mother figure to her nieces, nephews, and

1many children of the church; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander was preceded in death by her
3parents; her husband of 68 years, Sonny; her sons, Glenn D. and
4Tyrone Sr.; and her siblings, Eva, William Jr., Frank,
5LeFloyd, Selma, and Reverend DeLloyd; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander is survived by her children,
7Clinton L. (Michelle) Alexander, Denise Alexander, Cynthia M.
8(Bruce Sr.) Barnes, and Katrina (Walter) Ballard; her
9daughter-in-law, Laura Alexander; her grandchildren, Tashe'
10Jackson, Alyssa (Tremaine) DeJohnson, Tyrone (Joi) Alexander
11Jr., Bruce L. Barnes Jr., Brandon A. Barnes, Cameron M.
12Barnes, Michael Coates, Joshua Coates, Taliyah, and Tanaya;
13six great-grandchildren; her brother, Marl E. (Elise) Miller;
14her sisters, Earnestine Meriweather and Ruby D. Burkley; her
15godchildren, Lorell Freemon, Stacey Smith, Kenneth Horton,
16Andrea Horton, Kashundra Jones, Brandon Miller, and Jamal
17Cheatham; her special daughters, Nettie Myers, Charlotte
18Turner, Nicole Irby, and many others who affectionately called
19her "Momma"; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives,
20and dear friends; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
22HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23we mourn the passing of Eunice Alexander and extend our

1sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
2and loved her; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Eunice Alexander as an expression
5of our deepest sympathy.
