| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eunice |
| 4 | | Alexander, who passed away on August 19, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander was born in Nesbit, Mississippi |
| 6 | | to William Sr. and Julia Miller on April 14, 1937; she married |
| 7 | | Odell "Sonny" Alexander in Hernando, Mississippi on September |
| 8 | | 16, 1956; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander committed to her faith at an |
| 10 | | early age; she was a member of New Faith M.B. Church for 63 |
| 11 | | years, where she served as a faithful member of the Deaconess |
| 12 | | Board, the Voices of New Faith Choir, the Sunday school |
| 13 | | department, and the Repast Committee; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander was known for her cooking; she |
| 15 | | was a dedicated member of the Feed the Hungry Outreach |
| 16 | | Ministry, where she, along with others, cooked dinners in |
| 17 | | their homes for the ministry; as this ministry grew, they |
| 18 | | expanded to the kitchen of New Faith M.B. Church, where she |
| 19 | | continued her service in until 2020; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander was very passionate about her |
| 21 | | children; she was a mother figure to her nieces, nephews, and |

| 1 | | many children of the church; and |
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander was preceded in death by her |
| 3 | | parents; her husband of 68 years, Sonny; her sons, Glenn D. and |
| 4 | | Tyrone Sr.; and her siblings, Eva, William Jr., Frank, |
| 5 | | LeFloyd, Selma, and Reverend DeLloyd; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Alexander is survived by her children, |
| 7 | | Clinton L. (Michelle) Alexander, Denise Alexander, Cynthia M. |
| 8 | | (Bruce Sr.) Barnes, and Katrina (Walter) Ballard; her |
| 9 | | daughter-in-law, Laura Alexander; her grandchildren, Tashe' |
| 10 | | Jackson, Alyssa (Tremaine) DeJohnson, Tyrone (Joi) Alexander |
| 11 | | Jr., Bruce L. Barnes Jr., Brandon A. Barnes, Cameron M. |
| 12 | | Barnes, Michael Coates, Joshua Coates, Taliyah, and Tanaya; |
| 13 | | six great-grandchildren; her brother, Marl E. (Elise) Miller; |
| 14 | | her sisters, Earnestine Meriweather and Ruby D. Burkley; her |
| 15 | | godchildren, Lorell Freemon, Stacey Smith, Kenneth Horton, |
| 16 | | Andrea Horton, Kashundra Jones, Brandon Miller, and Jamal |
| 17 | | Cheatham; her special daughters, Nettie Myers, Charlotte |
| 18 | | Turner, Nicole Irby, and many others who affectionately called |
| 19 | | her "Momma"; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, |
| 20 | | and dear friends; therefore, be it |
