HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Southern Illinois Builders Association on the occasion of its 80th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Southern Illinois Builders Association was chartered in 1945; and

WHEREAS, The Southern Illinois Builders Association serves approximately 500 members who are leaders in the construction industry throughout Southern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Southern Illinois Builders Association serves as the voice of the construction industry in the southern 39 counties of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Southern Illinois Builders Association has evolved into one of the most respected trade associations in Illinois, with a strong focus on labor relations, workforce development, safety, and community investment; and

WHEREAS, The Southern Illinois Builders Association boasts many accomplishments in support of the region, including a state-of-the-art digital plans room, giving members access to plans, specifications and addenda for approximately 3,000 commercial projects each year; a nationally recognized safety program; a history of strong labor-management collaboration; safe, efficient, and productive job sites across the region; successful career expos, which collectively connect thousands of students each year with hands-on demonstrations and apprenticeship opportunities in the skilled trades; scholarships to students pursuing degrees in construction management, construction-related engineering, architecture-interior design, or construction safety; and grants and funding to high schools offering vocational education and building trades classes, helping them to purchase tools, materials and equipment to prepare students for careers in construction; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Southern Illinois Builders Association on its 80th anniversary, and we wish them continued success in building the future, both for the construction industry and the communities it supports; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Southern Illinois Builders Association as an expression of our respect and esteem.
