HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Westville Junior High 
4School softball team, the Wildcats, on winning the 2025 IESA 
5Class 2A state championship; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Wildcats won two games on September 20, 2025, 
7defeating Calhoun High School (Hardin) in their final contest 
8by a score of 7 to 3 to secure their championship; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Wildcats finished their season with a perfect 
10record of 25 wins and zero losses; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Wildcats' record over the last two seasons of 
12IESA play is 44 and 1; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Wildcats are led by coaches Matt Darling and 
14Ed Barney; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The members of the Wildcats are Reese Michelin, 
16Trinity McGehee, Denim Zaayer, Aria Beninato, Rhyla Strange, 
17Dannalee Lutchka, Maddie Herrin, Autumn McDaniel, Danica Fox, 
18Ella Douglas, Kinley Barney, Harper Eldridge, Krislen Cook, 
19Riley Barnes, Bella Taflinger, and Lilly Pabst; and

1    WHEREAS, The Wildcats were welcomed home with a Westville 
2police and fire department escort, along with honking horns 
3and cheering fans; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate the Westville Junior High School softball 
7team, the Wildcats, on winning the 2025 IESA Class 2A state 
8championship and recognize all of the contributions made by 
9the players, coaches, and families who have impacted their 
10team and school for the better; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
12presented to the Wildcats and to coaches Matt Darling and Ed 
13Barney as an expression of our esteem and respect for a perfect 
14championship winning season.
