HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Cordell
4Byron Smith of Chicago; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cordell Smith grew up on the South Side and
6attended the De La Salle Institute and DePaul University; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Cordell Smith worked in transportation as a
8driver and then as a transportation security guard for rail
9services; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Cordell Smith's faith was important to him, and
11he worshiped and served as an altar boy at St. Dorothy Church
12in Chicago in his youth; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Cordell Smith was an avid sports fan, especially
14of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls; he enjoyed cars,
15traveling, and a good meal; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Cordell Smith was kind, thoughtful, and generous,
17and if there was anything that he could do for you, he would
18not hesitate; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Cordell Smith was a great person, a good friend,

1a great father, and an even greater grandfather; he was
2devoted to his family and loved them dearly; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we mourn the passing of Cordell Byron Smith and extend our
6sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
7and loved him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Cordell Smith as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
