HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Illinois
4Education Association (IEA) President Albert "Al" Llorens, who
5passed away on September 25, 2025; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Al Llorens was born to Margurrite and Louis
7Llorens on March 18, 1952; he received a Bachelor of Science in
8Education from the University of Illinois, and he later earned
9a Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction from National
10Louis University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Al Llorens was known as a capable educational
12leader, a mentor, and an academically talented and lifelong
13learner; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Al Llorens was a dedicated, tireless advocate for
15public education and racial justice, spearheading the Ethnic
16Minority and Emerging Leadership Training that supported all
17IEA members, but especially Black and Brown members, on their
18journey to leadership; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Al Llorens was a highly respected and beloved
20high school math teacher at Thornridge High School for over 30
21years, where he also served as a girls cross country track

1coach; he was noted for believing that every student had the
2potential to change the world for the better; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Al Llorens was a loyal and devoted member of
4Trinity United Church of Christ; he was also a distinguished
5member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated since
6September 25, 1970; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Al Llorens was a kind, loving, generous, and
8devoted father and husband; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Al Llorens was preceded in death by his parents
10and his brothers, Lawrence and John Llorens; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Al Llorens is survived by his wife, Wanda; his
12children, Leslie Llorens, Ashley Llorens, and Cayse Llorens;
13his brother, Christoff Llorens; and a host of family and
14friends; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we mourn the passing of Illinois Education Association (IEA)
18President Albert "Al" Llorens and extend our sincere
19condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
20him; and be it further

3deepest sympathy.
